Spring 2023 Updates

by Dr. Lydia Ahn

We did many exciting things this spring and wrapped up our first year in the lab. Here are some of the things we did during the semester:

  1. Dr. Lydia Ahn presented her work on profiles of racial socialization, family cohesion, and sociopolitical values among Asian American adolescents at the Society of Research in Child Development in Salt Lake City, Utah (March, 2022)

  2. First year master’s student Selin Saka successfully proposed her master’s thesis on the link between primary caregiver self-stigma and help-seeking intentions, and the moderating role of peer social support among Middle Eastern emerging adults (March, 2022). Look out for data collection coming soon!

  3. Dr. Lydia Ahn presented her work on subtle racial discrimination, cognitive appraisal, and mood among Asian Americans at the International Convention of Psychological Science in Brussels, Belgium (March, 2022)

  4. Dr. Lydia Ahn published an article in the Journal of Adolescence entitled "The relationship between mother and father racial-ethnic socialization profiles and family cohesion and sociopolitical values among Asian American adolescents" with Annabelle Atkin, Ph.D. and Jacqueline Yi, Ph.D.

  5. Incoming PhD student, Tina Tan, received the prestigious GCEF (Graduate College Enrichment Fellowship) from ASU.

Have a great summer!
