  • Gloria Kang, M.A.

    Ph.D Student

    she/her

    Gloria (SooYoung) Kang is a second-year doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology program at Arizona State University. She earned her master’s in psychology and bachelor’s in psychology and education studies with a minor in East Asian studies. Her research interests include working with immigrants of mixed-status families, undocumented youth, and DACA recipients, exploring critical consciousness, sociopolitical development, ethnic-racial socialization, and liberation psychology. She further seeks opportunities to immerse herself in clinical work, social justice work, education, and policy advocacy with immigrant communities. She also enjoys cooking, traveling with friends and family, and exploring new restaurants and cafes.

  • Tina Tan

    Ph.D Student

    Tina Tan is a second-year doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology program at Arizona State University. Tina earned her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. After graduating, she went on to work as a full-time research assistant in the Adolescent Risk Prevention Lab at Bradley Hasbro Research Center. At ASU, Tina became a Graduate College Enrichment Fellow and NSF GRFP Honorable Mention. She is currently collecting data for her master’s thesis on shared language erosion and second-generation well-being outcomes. Tina also hopes to further conduct research on emotion regulation and parent-child communication among immigrant families. In her free time, Tina loves messing with her cat Lola, cooking, swimming, and embroidering.

  • Yeeun Kim, M.A.

    Yeeun Kim is a fifth-year doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology program at Arizona State University (ASU). She earned her bachelor’s degree in Education and English Language Education, with a minor in Psychology, from Korea University in Seoul, South Korea. She also earned her master’s degree in Counseling and Clinical Psychology from Sogang University in Seoul. After graduation, she worked as an intern counselor at the Sogang University Counseling Center and obtained certification as a counselor in Korea. She has served as a practicum counselor at both the ASU Counseling Training Center and ASU Counseling Services. Currently, she teaches CED 250 Career Development at ASU. Her research interests include microaggressions against women and people of color, feminist and liberation psychology, and the counseling training environment.

  • Finneas Wong, M.A.

    Finneas Wong is a third-year PhD student in Counseling Psychology at Arizona State University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Tufts University and Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Arizona State University. His main research interest is in examining the intersection between racial-ethnic and gender identities, associated risk and protective factors, and related mental health and psychosocial outcomes. He is particularly interested in understanding how trans and nonbinary youth and young adults of color navigate, negotiate, and communicate their identities with their parents. Additionally, he hopes to develop/evaluate identity and culturally sensitive psychological measures and interventions by integrating innovative technology tools. In his free time, Finneas loves playing with his dog Ferb, watching his tortoise Houdini munch on veggies, trying out new restaurants, and doing outdoorsy activities.

  • Saba Shakir

    Saba Shakir is a sophomore at ASU, majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Psychology. She is very interested in adolescent and developmental psychology as well as the intersectionality of race, culture, and relationships especially in second generation immigrant adolescents. Outside of academics, she is also heavily involved in badminton and regularly competes in out-of-state tournaments. In her free time, she loves reading books, trying new foods, and spending time with friends and family!

  • Jenna Le

    Jenna Le is a second year undergraduate pre-med student in Psychology at Arizona State University. Her research interests include developmental psychology and its socioeconomic factors. She's always been intrigued by interpersonal relationships in respect to mental health and identity. In her free time, she loves to spend time with loved ones, crochet, or read!

  • Preesha Kumar

    Undergraduate RA

    Preesha Kumar is a 3rd year undergraduate student at ASU majoring in Psychology B.S. . Her research interests include immigrant family dynamics, racial and cultural identity, and access to culturally oriented mental health care. She hopes to either pursue medicine or a clinical psychology PhD to eliminate barriers to ADHD and autism diagnosis for minorities. In her free time, catch her dancing, talking about the geopolitical state of the world, and singing.

  • Selin Saka, M.A.

    R&R Alumnus

    she/her

    Selin is a graduate of the Master of Counseling program at Arizona State University. She received her master’s degree in Bilingual and Multicultural Education at Alcalá University in Madrid, Spain. Her former experience as a teacher has led to her current interest in mental health and counseling. During her free time, she loves to hike, read, and play pickleball.
