Spring and Summer 2024 Updates
by Dr. Lydia Ahn
We wrapped up our second year in the lab. We did work this spring and had a ton of fun!
The Race and Relationships (R&R) Lab is housed in the School of Counseling and Counseling Psychology at Arizona State University and led by Dr. Lydia HaRim Ahn. While the lab conducts research on various psychological topics, we focus on adolescents and emerging adults and main foci include:
1. The impact of racism on health outcomes with a focus on within-group differences
2. Developmental protective factors including parenting (e.g., attachment, parent-child communication) and ethnic-racial socialization 3. Methods of healing including psychotherapy and video-based interventions. The lab generally investigates the effects of oppression on marginalized communities and the ways in which relationships (e.g., parent-child, therapist-client) are healing. In the lab, we broadly study Race and Relationships, engage in Rest and Relaxation, and aim for Revise and Resubmits.

An excellent start to the second year, with first year PhD students, Tina Tan and Gloria Kang joining us!
It was our first summer "off" but we still did some work. Check it out!
